The Middletown Family YMCA needs approximately $12 million in donations to build its new facility at 202 E. Cochran St.

Fundraising efforts are in a “quiet phase” to build the new, two-story, 66,000-square-foot building, said the Middletown Transcript. The YMCA currently is located at 404 N. Cass St.

The Middletown Town Council recently approved plans for a $26 million YMCA building. Tentative groundbreaking for the facility, which will include turf fields, fitness center and 15,000-square-foot aquatic center, is 2021.

Monetary donations for the building are being sought. The YMCA is in a “quiet phase” of a fundraising campaign, as people are sought who will make large contributions, said the Middletown Transcript.

Building amenities are dependent on the fundraising’s success, David Halley, Middletown Family YMCA executive director, told the Middletown Transcript.

The YMCA is a association that cultivates the human potential, self-esteem and dignity of all people, the YMCA's website states.
