Bayhealth Medical Center issued the following announcement on Jan. 1.
Bayhealth donors make an enormous impact on hospital operations. The Bayhealth Foundation passed along $3 million — $2 million to the Sussex Campus and $1 million to the Kent Campus — in gifts from generous supporters. “We can’t say enough about the generosity of our donors,” said Bayhealth Foundation President Lindsay Rhodenbaugh. “We are using their gifts to improve healthcare for the sake of the community and our patients.”
A significant portion of the $3 million was used for:
- Two new CAT scanners, one for Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus and one for Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus.
- Equipment and services for Sussex Occupational Health.
- Other new equipment that directly benefits patients of all ages, including baby warmers, fetal monitors and new birthing beds; new Workplace on Wheels (WOW) carts; a new ventilator; new ultrasound equipment for interventional radiology; and new exercise equipment for the cardiac rehabilitation unit.
The Bayhealth Foundation receives, manages and distributes all contributions to donor-designated areas. All donations are appreciated, including cash donations, securities, real estate, in-kind donations, or bequests.
In addition, the Bayhealth Foundation pursues fundraising opportunities through charity golf tournaments, the Go Pink! Health Fair, Bayhealth Cancer Institute’s Runway of Hope luncheon fashion show, and more.
“Healthcare is very expensive, and equipment has a limited shelf life. Donations allow us to ensure we have the latest and best equipment for our healthcare teams and patients,” Rhodenbaugh said.
