Public Notice

The Board of Adjustment of the Town of Bethany Beach will hold a public meeting on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at 10:00 am in the Bethany Beach Town Hall, 214 Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach, Delaware.

The purpose of the hearing is to consider the following:

An application for a variance, filed by Dylan Crews, Builder for property owner Virginia M. Elgin for the property identified as Block 111, Lot 4 at 102 Hollywood Street, in the R-1 Residential Zoning District.  The applicant is seeking variances from Chapter 425, Attachment 3, Appendix 3, Table of Dimensional Requirements, to permit improvements to the existing non-conforming dwelling as follows:

  1. Variance for increasing the height of the existing dwelling in its present location, encroaching into the side yard setback by 1.5’ in height.
  2. Variance for stair encroachment into the front yard setback by an additional 2’, for a total of 8 square feet due to elevating the house.
  3. Variance to change the roof pitch, increasing the height of the second-floor walls for additional living space on the west side of the house, increasing the encroachment in the side yard setback by 1.5’ in height.
 

The application may be inspected in the office of the Building Inspector, 214 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, Delaware, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except scheduled Holidays.

All interested persons are hereby notified to be present and to attend this hearing where said Board may make a determination on the application, Said Board without further notice may adjourn such hearing from time to time.

The Board may recess for good reason on the announced day and reconvene on another day to continue the hearing; in such a case, the announcement of the date and time of reconvening will constitute sufficient public notice.
